The INSPECT.assembly solution is a fully-integrated inspection station that utilizes a Radiant Vision Systems ProMetric® Imaging Photometer, bright field lighting, and programmable inspection software to detect subtle, low-contrast defects on complex assemblies. The system can be easily added to the production line to accommodate real-time inspection with greater accuracy and repeatability than human inspectors or traditional machine vision systems, while occupying the same footprint as an inspector on the line. The system can track inspected parts by serial number while recording defects, defect type, and defect trending data. The system performs a range of machine vision inspections, simultaneously or in sequence, employing the breadth of inspection tools packaged in Radiant’s new, configurable INSPECT Software.
The SIG-400 (Source Imaging Goniometer®, Gen. 4) is a fully-automated, computer-controlled goniometric system designed specifically to meet the needs of LED researchers, developers, manufacturers, and users for LED die and device characterization. The SIG-400 uses a ProMetric® I Imaging Colorimeter to generate highly-accurate near-field models of LEDs. This data can be used directly to investigate the performance of the LED, or it can be exported using Radiant Vision Systems ProSource® Software, for use in all major optical design software packages.
PM-NFMS™ (ProMetric® Near-Field Measurement System) measures brightness, color, and, optionally, spectrum as a function of view angle for large light sources. It is designed to provide accurate luminance distribution data for developers of large light sources for automotive, transportation, architectural, and other applications. Because PM-NFMS captures a complete near-field model of the light source, it provides much more comprehensive information – in a much smaller measurement space – than can be obtained from traditional spot meter-based measurements.
VisionCAL® is a patented, turnkey solution for LED screen manufacturers and installers that can be used to dramatically improve color and brightness uniformity in LED displays. The system is designed to be flexible enough to address LED module correction needs in a controlled factory environment and also to perform in-field correction of the large, spectacular LED video screens used in stadiums, in arenas, for outdoor advertising, or for large indoor displays.
Illuminated keyboards and keypads can exhibit variations in brightness and color from key to key, and even within keys, that are noticeable to the end-user. This inconsistency can detract from the user experience and, in extreme cases, these variations may strongly impact product usability. A member of the Radiant Vision Systems TrueTest™ Software family, the PM-KB system combines application-specific software and a ProMetric® Imaging Colorimeter or Photometer to perform rapid, automated visual inspection of backlit keyboards and keypads for character luminance and chromaticity, and assess overall keyboard luminance and color uniformity. PM-KB also tests to ensure that key caps are installed correctly and that each key is in its proper location. PM-KB is a dedicated testing system and is easy to set-up and operate.
ProMetric software is a Windows®-based software suite that provides equipment control, data acquisition and image analysis when used with ProMetric Imaging Photometers and Colorimeters. Radiant Vision Systems TrueMURA™ Analysis Module is the first commercial system available to provide advanced image analysis algorithms for computing JND (“Just Noticeable Differences”). This augments the Defect Analysis functions already available in TrueTest™ Automated Visual Inspection software. The JND detection algorithm incorporated in TrueMURA is based on U. S. patent 7,783,130, “Standard Spatial Observer” technology, licensed by Radiant Vision Systems from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Near-infrared (near-IR or NIR) emissions of light are used by devices to sense three-dimensional objects outside of the human visible spectrum, eliminating visible light interference and human visual distraction. However, because NIR emissions are “invisible,” test equipment must be used to ensure adequate intensity and distribution of NIR light for object detection.
Head-up displays (HUDs) pose unique measurement challenges for manufacturers, who must account for projected image luminance, contrast, and clarity regardless of ambient conditions, virtual image positions, or focal distances on an infinite viewing plane. Comprehensive HUD testing requires both photometric (light data) and dimensional (spatial data) measurement combined to ensure the accuracy of information conveyed to a vehicle operator within a rapidly changing, real-world environment.
Automotive displays face particular demands for performance through variable lighting conditions, temperatures, vibrations, viewing angles, and other factors. Ensuring visual quality of displays of various shapes and sizes, with anti-glare or anti-reflective coatings, integrated into different fixtures and at fixed positions relative to passengers and drivers, is a key challenge for manufacturers in the increasingly display-focused automotive market.
Displays viewed near to the eye create immersive virtual experiences, such as those integrated into AR/VR devices. However, as display images are magnified to fill a user’s field of view (FOV), display defects are also magnified. Issues with uniformity of brightness and color, dead pixels, line defects, cloudiness, and image position become more evident to the user whose eyes are merely centimeters away from display screens.
When testing the quality of illuminated components and displays, or looking for defects in assemblies and surfaces, multiple tests may need to be performed to inspect products for a range of evaluation criteria. The Radiant Vision Systems Microscope Lens enables high-resolution imaging of extremely small components and features, such as individual LEDs, display pixels, and subpixels. The lens attaches directly to any ProMetric® Imaging Colorimeter or Photometer, at resolutions from 2 to 43 megapixels. Utilized with Radiant ProMetric or TrueTest™ Software, the Microscope Lens provides a compact and efficient photometric measurement solution for controlling the visual quality of displays and other devices.
The Radiant Vision Systems FPD (flat panel display) conoscope lens enables high-resolution photopic measurement of the angular distribution of color, luminance, and contrast for displays and display components. Radiant uses Fourier optics that map an emitting spot to a CCD so that each pixel corresponds to a different emission angle. The conoscope lens captures a full cone of view angle data in a single measurement to ±70 degrees. This provides quick, accurate results, making the system ideal for both R&D projects and in-line production quality control. The lens is well-suited to a wide range of FPD types including those based on LCD and OLED technologies, as well as backlights.
The Radiant Vision Systems AR/VR lens has a unique optical design specially engineered for measuring near-eye displays (NEDs), such as those integrated into virtual (VR), mixed (MR), and augmented reality (AR) headsets. The lens design simulates the size, position, and field of view of the human eye. Unlike alternative lens options, where the aperture is located inside the lens, the aperture of the AR/VR lens is located on the front of the lens, enabling positioning of the imaging system’s entrance pupil within NED headsets to view head-mounted displays (HMDs) at the same location as the human eye.
ProMetric® Y is a series of high-performance imaging photometers designed for high-volume production testing of displays, smartphones, tablets, notebooks, keyboards, and lighting products.
The ProMetric® I family of imaging colorimeters is designed to address the demands for high-volume manufacturing of displays, illuminated keyboards and LED lighting products.
